🌟 Why This Role Matters

The Site Manager at Stella Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of a transfer station. This includes supervision of site staff and ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient loading, transportation, and management of waste materials from in-town processing facilities to remote landfills. The Site Manager will uphold company standards and client expectations for safety, performance, and compliance.


πŸ‘₯ Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of equipment operators, laborers, and administrative personnel.

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance evaluations to maintain a productive work environment.

  • Schedule and delegate daily tasks to ensure timely and efficient completion of operations.

  • Enforce all safety standards, company policies, and compliance requirements.

  • Conduct daily briefings to align team goals, safety protocols, and responsibilities.


πŸ“ Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily transfer station operations for safety and efficiency.

  • Manage the safe loading, transportation, and disposal of waste to remote landfills.

  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, safety, regulatory, and local guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate records of all site operations, including:

    • Waste processed

    • Staff hours

    • Equipment usage and safety checks

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address safety or maintenance needs.

  • Optimize the use of all resources to minimize costs and enhance performance.

  • Respond quickly to on-site issues (e.g., equipment malfunctions, safety incidents, delays).

  • Implement and track site-specific goals and performance metrics.

  • Coordinate maintenance and repair schedules to reduce downtime.

  • Maintain control of the site budget and manage all costs.

  • Liaise with clients to ensure service meets expectations and resolve any concerns.

  • Complete all required safety, environmental, and operational reports on time.

  • Train new team members on operations, safety protocols, and company policies.

  • Deliver regular updates to senior management regarding site performance and improvements.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, promoting a collaborative, safety-first culture.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to interface with teams, clients, and leadership.

  • Deep understanding of waste management operations, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.

  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance, heavy machinery operation, and repair.

  • Competence in budgeting and financial reporting.

  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to safety and compliance excellence.

  • Tech-savvy; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other reporting tools.

  • Strong customer service and issue-resolution skills.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).

  • Experience: 3–5 years in waste management, operations management, or a similar role.

  • Proven success in supervising teams and ensuring smooth, compliant operations.

  • Experience with heavy equipment and facility management (a plus).

  • Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental standards, and legal requirements.

  • Experience in budget management, scheduling, and performance reporting.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).

  • Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on-site for extended periods.

  • Capability to operate or oversee the operation of heavy machinery.

  • Comfort working in noisy, hazardous environments with appropriate protective equipment.

  • Willingness to travel to other sites or attend off-site meetings as needed.
